STRYPER’S MICHAEL SWEET JOINS BOSTON on SUMMER TOUR!!

By Denise Miller

Michael Sweet, known as the frontman for the 80’s Christian Metal band "Stryper" had a dream come true when he was invited to join the infamous rock band "Boston" on their 2008 North American summer tour.

He was sharing vocals and lead guitar and performing many of the band’s well-known hits. The tour started June 6 in Ontario, Canada and went through 54 cities, ending in San Juan, PR on Aug 31.

Stryper was an 80’s Christian Metal band out of L.A. that was successful and performed alongside Metallica, Ratt, White Lion and Motley Crue. Stryper released seven albums with over 10 million sold, reaching Gold and Platinum record sales. They were a worldwide success. In 1992, Michael went solo with six releases and said he was always heavily influenced by BOSTON.

In 2005, STRYPER got back together and released an album and tour entitled "Reborn/". Mike also continued his solo projects. He was thrilled at the opportunity to tour with his favorite band! BOSTON sold 30 million records worldwide, beginning with its 1976 self titled debut "Boston," which sold 17 million copies and was considered the highest selling debut album of all time.

Stryper is also coming out with a new CD in 2009 entitled "Murder by Pride," which will include a Boston song entitled "Peace of Mind" and will be available on Itunes and other digital media stores.

In 1986 Stryper released "To Hell with the Devil," which went Platinum and was listed as one of the 100 greatest albums in Christian Music by CCM Music Magazine.
