God's Diet Plan

By Denise Miller

Peer through any magazine and you will find an article on how to lose weight. Diets abound, some are sensible and some are not. Obesity is a growing problem in the United States, even now in other countries as well!

As we examine our personal eating habits we have another thing to consider. Fitness can be physical and can be spiritual as well. You may not be consuming too much pasta, but how about anger, apathy, or envy?

These things can damage your soul as sure as fat, sugar and salt can damage your body!

Are you spiritually fit? What would Gods diet plan be for us?

While we take our daily walk, we might deliver food to a needy neighbor. At least stop in and say hello to that elderly lady or gentleman down the street. We can see if they are ok.

Instead of envying your neighbor’s boat, invite him out on yours. So what if yours is smaller! You’ll make a friend and your spirit will be lighter. God reminds us in the Bible that He will take care of our needs. We do not have to worry; He will give us opportunities to make that money to support our families. Some times we get greedy, want too much, can’t see the big picture. Gluttony and greed are poison to our souls. Gods diet plan would have us look at our overindulging, gluttony, and greed and replace it with charity, ethics, compassion, consideration and concern for our neighbors. Gods diet plan would have us replace laziness and lack of motivation with volunteer work, helping thy neighbor, kindness and love. These go a long way in healing an unfit heart.

Take a look at your spiritual fitness. Add a little compassion, sympathy and love, spread generously around, repeat often.
