Screen Legend Paul Newman Lives On Forever!

By Denise Miller

Paul Newman was born to act! Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, the legendary Academy Award winning actor was well known for his infamous roles in such films as Cool Hand Luke and The Color of Money. He started his career in theater and television in the 50’s and quickly became one of the world’s most popular stars.

Newman was nominated for 10 Oscars― winning one regular one and two honorary ones. He had major roles in over 50 motion pictures including Exodus, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Verdict, The Sting, and Absence of Malice. Newman worked with all of the great producers from Alfred Hitchcock to Martin Scorsese. He also co-starred with Elizabeth Taylor, Lauren Bacall, Tom Cruise and Robert Redford (with whom he was a good friend), among many others.

Married to Joanne Woodward, they enjoyed a rare (in showbiz) long-term marriage of 50 years. They adored each other. Once, when asked why he never strayed, he replied, “I have steak at home, why go out for hamburger?” He was well known for his philanthropy. Paul Newman gave millions to charities through his food company including setting up camps for severely ill children. He sent all of the profits to these causes. In 2005, at 80 years young, he won an Emmy and a Golden Globe Award for the HBO drama Empire Fields. This prolific actor was also awarded for providing a voice in the 2006 Disney-Pixar hit, Cars.

Paul will be remembered and enjoyed through his work for generations to come!
