Peter Boyle, the lovable grouchy father "Frank Barone" on "the T.V.sitcom "Everybody Loves Raymond" died December 12, 2006 from multiple myeloma and heart disease at New York’s Presbyterian Hospital. He was 71 years old. Born in Philadelphia, he enjoyed a wonderful career as a character comedic actor in 60 films and several TV shows, notably "Saturday Night Live"in 1976 with John Belushi.

Before he got into acting, Young Boyle grew up with little interest in performing and instead became a monk with the Congregation of Christian Brothers, an order affiliated with the Catholic Church. He is possibly best remembered for his portrayal of the "Monster" in the 1974 Mel Brooks hit, Young Frankenstein" alongside Gene Wilder. We all fondly smiled at the many tributes on TV showing the clip of him and Wilder in the stage scene dancing and singing "Putting On The Ritz".

He earned 10 Emmy Nominations but took home only one. In 1996 he won an Emmy for his role in X-Files "Clyde Bruckman’s Final Repose". He was nominated in 2000 for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for ‘Everybody Loves Raymond" alongside Ray Romano, the lead actor.

Doris Roberts played his wife in "Raymond", she and the rest of the cast all spoke of how he was regarded as a family member to them. He was a member of the cast of "Raymond" from 1996- 2005. He had a history of health problems. In 1990 he suffered a stroke and recovered. In 1999 he suffered a heart attack, recovering again. His wife of 30 years, Lorraine Alterman and his two daughters, Amy and Lucy, survives him.

A little known piece of trivia is that when he married Lorraine, his best man was the legendary John Lennon! They became friends through a mutual friend of Yoko’s.
