Kent Bottenfield Leads the Momentum Awards with 5 Nominations
(NASHVILLE, TENN.) -- Former All Star pitcher and Christian recording artist Kent Bottenfield has garnered 5 Momentum Award nominations for his debut CD release Take Me Back. Bottenfield leads the awards, nominated for Song of the Year ("I Can't Wait to Go Home"), Album of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, Contemporary Artist of the Year and Inspirational Artist of the Year.
Nominations for the 1st annual Indieheaven Momentum Awards were announced online this past week. The awards will be presented on Saturday, March 25, 2006 at the CIA Summit 2006 conference in Franklin, Tennessee.
Indieheaven founder and CIA Summit director Keith Mohr comments, "It's important to recognize and applaud the efforts made in recent years by artists who are independent. By providing them the recognition they have earned we hope to increase their platform and awareness."
Bottenfield is best known as an All-Star pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, having spent 16 years playing professional baseball. Kent was forced to retire in 2001 after a career ending shoulder injury. With his Major League Baseball career now over, Kent headed into the studio with multi-Grammy Award-winning producer Michael Omartian to create a project filled with songs of inspiration and hope. The resulting CD and companion DVD Take Me Back were released in 2005 by TAG Artist Group, home to such artists as Bryan Duncan, Phil Keaggy and Clay Crosse.
