South Florida Hosts Super Bowl 2007

By: Denise Miller

The Super Bowl will return to South Florida for the ninth time in 2007. The last time the Super bowl was in Florida was in 1999 and the area is anticipating showing America how it has grown. There has been a transformation of urban development and tourist attractions geared for the whole family.

South Florida consists of Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade Counties. The region has added thousands of tourist attractions to its already extensive list.

When the teams and their fans arrive for the game, they will also have Parrot Jungle Island, built in 2003 to visit. The $47 million theme park has thrilled thousands of visitors, located in the heart of Miami between downtown and South Beach.

Visitors will want to see the Miami Beach Convention Center, spanning four city blocks in Miami. The center is also recognized for its unusual architecture. Adjacent to the convention center are the Art deco and South Beach districts, with plenty of shopping and sightseeing.

The Greater Miami region has undergone growth in the last few years that include 50 new hotels and 30 new golf courses, along with a new performing arts center opening this October. All of this development has revitalized downtown Miami.

"South Florida sells itself", says former Miami Dolphins President Eddie Jones. "We’ve got everything from sports and fashion to nightlife and tourism."

So, while the fans will remember Florida’s proud history of Super Bowls, like Joe Namath and the AFL New York Jets in Super Bowl III, or Joe Montana’s San Francisco 49ers beating the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl XXIII, they will be very happy to see what a dream destination South Florida has become!
