Rock N’ Roll Your Way through Ohio

Art lovers will be delighted with the art and museums located in Cleveland. Visit the Museum of Art, Cleveland Public Art and The Sculpture Center. Take a stroll through Spaces Art Gallery which provides artists with freedom, resources and an audience. On November 1, the gallery holds its Annual Benefit and Silent Auction. Yes, it’s the same day as the Day of the Dead, El Dia de los Muertos, where “the undying spirit of art will rise to join the fun and a spicy Latino celebration of the soul will ensue!”

Tower City Center is the place to shop, dine, play and stay! Shopping is very easy at Tower City Center because they have something for everyone. The center offers men’s and women’s apparel as well as a great cup of coffee. Take in the latest blockbuster movie at Tower City Cinemas. After a day and night of fun, retire to your room at The Ritz-Carlton or The Renaissance Hotel. Let the relaxation commence!

Head south and drive to Columbus, the capital of Ohio and the home of the Ohio State Buckeyes! For those interested in cultural and historical sites, Columbus will not disappoint. Explore Kelton House where Sophia and Fernando Kelton risked everything to hide and protect fugitive slaves while seeing them safely to their freedom in Canada.

The Kings Art Complex is a pioneer arts organization. It’s located in the Mount Vernon Avenue neighborhood, “the center of Columbus' African-American community” in the 1920’s. They celebrated their 20th anniversary in 2007. The Cotton Club Dancers, Cab Calloway, Count Basie, Duke Ellington and more performed at The Kings Art Complex. Works by African-American artists such as nationally recognized artist Aminah Robinson can be found at the Complex.

For a unique shopping experience, visit The German Village. This 233 acre neighborhood is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Bookworms, stop at the Book Loft of German Village. In addition to selling new books, they have puzzles, posters and CDs. Satisfy that “sweet tooth” with a visit to Schmidt’s Fudge Haus and Gifts. Choose from a selection of chocolates, fudge, sugar-free goodies and gifts. Go on and treat the whole family!
